Do This On Monday After Easter!

Celebrating Easter lifts the soul in powerful ways. Millions of believers attend inspiring services, hear uplifting music, pray at sunrise, or enjoy ending their Lenten abstinence from chocolate (or whatever). Easter Monday? Back to the regular world.
This year take an intentional step to move Sunday to the world of Monday and beyond.
Write a note of appreciation to clergy, musicians, teachers, or media wizards whose work made Lent and Easter worth your time. They love what they do. But mostly the efforts slip beneath our consciousness, blended with others. A personal note will make a difference for them and honor what God did through the gift of their talents.
Read a biography of a faithful believer who made a difference in their world. Choose a saint, a reformer, or a martyr to allow their story to enlarge your ideas about living out this faith. Consider picking someone in a different era than ours to gain a perspective on God’s universal work.
Surprise someone with a call or visit. The Sunday evening appearance by Jesus to the disciples changed their lives. Your contact probably won’t do that, but it can elevate someone’s mood for days. A few minutes with that person may even lift your heart in the process.
Find where the Wind is blowing. After Easter, the Spirit came howling in the upper room at Pentecost. Find where She is moving now to change lives—and get involved. A non-profit, a mission trip, a prayer circle, or a PAC may need you. Join your human energy with a cause that honors God to make this world a better place.
Go back next Sunday. After all, we become what we attend. If your church is boring and out-of-touch with real life, find another. Don’t waste too much time on activities that are forgotten in a week. Go listen, sing, pray, learn, and give. God may surprise you before the Christmas Eve service!
Oh yes, and enjoy your chocolate bunny rabbit!
